Extra Auditions and Pro: Do You Need to Upgrade?

You can reply to roles and get booked with the free profile. Pro is an optional upgrade that costs $48 a year and adds a few features, but you do not need them to take part. This guide explains what each option includes so you can decide for yourself.

What the free profile includes

MyCastingFile is free to join, free to see Open Calls, free to reply, and free to get booked. The free profile includes 2 Photos. You can reply to Open Calls, receive availability requests and booking requests in Replies, and use your Calendar. Casting sees your Profile and Photos when you reply.

Two clear Photos are enough to start. Casting looks at photos first, and they do not need to be professional. Use good light and a plain background, with only you in the frame, clear and in focus. A good pair is one headshot and one full-body or three-quarter photo. Do not use AI-generated photos, sunglasses, hats, group photos, or old photos that do not look like you now. What Pro adds

Pro adds up to 10 Photos, which is your 2 free ones plus 8 more. That lets you show different looks, such as different outfits or angles. It also adds a video, a Pro badge, and a Pro Page of your own. Pro includes email alerts that arrive as new roles are posted.

You can always check Open Calls yourself without Pro.

What Pro does not do

Pro does not guarantee a booking. Casting still chooses from the people who reply. It does not change the pay rate on an Open Call, and it does not change the production's rules for who it books.

Pro is never required to get booked. Extras who never buy it reply to roles, receive booking requests, and spend days on set. It does show casting that you are serious.

Making the most of the free profile

Most of what helps casting is simple and costs nothing. Fill in every detail on your Profile, keep your two Photos current, and check Replies each day. Casting searches by city and ZIP code, so correct location details matter, and if a role needs a skill, your Profile is the only place casting can see it.

Speed counts. Roles are often booked for the next day or two, so reply the same day an Open Call comes out. It does not need to be instant.

Keep your Calendar up to date as well. Tap a day once to mark it available and twice to mark it unavailable, and it saves by itself. When you mark a date available and you are in the area, casting sees a small calendar icon on your profile for that date, which makes it easier for them to check your availability. Marking your Calendar is not enough on its own, so also reply to the roles you want.

Quick, clear answers to availability requests and booking requests count for a lot. A free profile that is complete and answered promptly is a strong one.

Who might want Pro

Pro may suit you if you have more photos you want casting to see, such as different looks, or a short video that shows something about you. It may also help if you would like an email when a new role is posted, so you do not have to check every day.

If you already look at Open Calls on a regular schedule, the email alerts may matter less to you.

How to decide

Start with the free profile. Reply to roles for a few weeks and see how the process feels. Then ask yourself two questions. Do I have more photos or a video that would help casting see me? Do I want new-role alerts in my email?

If both answers are no, the free profile is enough. If either is yes, Pro may be worth the cost. Either choice is fine, and you can change your mind later.
